All The Dreams

All the dreams
Have been washed down
By prickly feelings
Talks on the phone
And the worlds at your doorstep
That you fail to keep
There is more to eyes than vision
And all the colours are wrong
Because we see them
I had once a human being inside of me
But now there are several
Or perhaps no one
It doesn’t suit me fine
But that’s the way the clock chimes
Twice
Or in silence
I’ll put you to bed
Cold creatures and linen
In the steam of reason we will ascend
With no other way to come back
But to condense
And precipitate into being
When Heaven is a foe
Or a much desired friend
Loss can stand in your way
Words condense only in your mind
Everywhere else they are free
Free from form
From free form
Deform the free
‘Cause somebody’s dream
Is to end everybody else’s
So beware of conflicting thoughts

Our Last Goodbye To Memory

I asked god for the receipt
He was being stubborn
So I pulled out my gun
Shot twice
In the heart
But I forgot he had three
So he stood there
Waiting for me
To say something, I’m sure
Or even reload
If I had more bullets
I quit and left the store
I said
I’m not coming here no more
He said
I think you’re wrong
You’ve left something on the floor
I ran back
He locked the door
But he didn’t call for the paramedics
Funny
I said
But no more
He said
What have you got to hide?
Don’t you want to finish what you’ve started?
What about starting what I’ll finish?
Is that the right answer?
You keep asking the wrong questions
How am I to know?
Oh yeah, I forgot
You’re a figment
I’m just the spur of the moment
That never stopped me from going
Here to there
Somewhere
Maybe I’ll be cold when I’m old
Maybe I’ll be dead when I’ve had
All the dreams
And all the hopes
One could hope to dream
From heaven to hell
And back

Captured By Freedom

Last night
Left someone else's taste
In my mouth
I wonder where all the words have gone?
How can the universe fade
And regrow
From moment to moment?
How can instants be lost
More easily than change?
Do you have a dime for me mister?
I forgot all about money
When I was kissing your lips
Though now I rememer who paid the bill
It doesn't matter
I remember it now
It were your eyes that took me hostage
Your eyes that kept me warm
Your eyes that held me
Through night's embrace
How I miss the hours I cannot recall
I want back every second I had with you
I want to let go
On my own terms
I want to let go
With common consent
An agreement between me and the universe
Don't get involved
It's going to get nasty
But I'm looking forward to it
Or backwards on it
This is it
Our last goodbye to memory
Give me what I want
And I will leave you alone
But if you don't
Then I'll have to stay
Until you do
And I do

The Horizon Is Your Absinthe

You that cast your eyes
More easily on clouds
Than on faces
You that looks at days
Like travellers on trains
Like passersby
You don't know why
You have been cast
Into a shape
Others seem to recognise
It's not wise
To turn a lie
Into someone else's truth
You that had your eyes cast
You that makes dreams last
A little longer
Before you more fully wake up
Soaking up the warmth of the night
Into the frozen wastelands of day
In and out of bed
With regrets to spare
You that look above
Because you want to go beyond
You that dreams have more substance
Than you'd like to admit
You that have the horizon
As the eternal drug
Always further
After each look
Consuming you
In sweet promise of release
Captured by freedom
You roam between
Other prisoners
Those less likely to stare
At fleeting emptiness
You that stare at days
As if they were cats
At nights
As if they were dogs
You that find comfort
In other people's pets
You that try to look life in the eye
But feel blinded by it
You that try to eat all that you can eat
But feel hunger
Always
As ever
You that feel
Sometimes
You have not chosen to be who you are
And that you've always been this way
Or that
You choose who you are
And that everything keeps changing
All the time
Or that
You can't decide on the things you think
Because you think too much
And that's confusing
Right now
Right here
Or there
Or everywhere
You that think you are as free
As you are lost
When there's no one left in your head to hear it
You who tries to claim life a territory
To uncover
Discover
To honour
To relate over
Life is a circle
But you're out of shape
And all the time
Is too late
And, ah well,
You never did get time
On time
Any time
Soon
I'll be back
After I call you
I'll be back
With the latest news
Of the Universe Emporium
We take dreams for granted
And souls as confirmation
Pin number please
Press the digits
Take the score
Know where you've left your bicycle
Your neighbours names
People you've forgotten
Because you never knew them
I take it there's still hope for you
don't worry, you don't need to feel it
We ship it anyway
Through dreams of frozen rain
The horizon is your absinthe
Mine is the rain
I'll get sober now
And stare at the pavement like the rest

Shores Of Stone

In shores of stone
You shall make your home
Did you ask for solidity?
A life?
Recognition?
I shall give you a solid start
A place to firm your mark
You will be recognised
Things will last
As far as time allows
You will live
In shores of stone
With grey skies
To firm your ground further
The horizon is your absynthe
Farm what you will
In everlasting stony gaze
Everything erected
Will stand for ages to come
And go
And come
Teh world digests the rock more slowly
When it bears some significance
Or so you've made yourselves to think
Can I pretend to be a whisper
Smoothing the stone?
You will lie
In shores of stone
Your love making will be hard and heavy
But you will unite
With gravity and shape
You will live in shores of stone
And the sea shall be frozen for you
In shores of stone

The Word Of The Lost

Fog, fingers and flames
Little rhymes
Going off time
A body loses its shape
I miss contours
And substance
When shall I begin?
A wander is lost
In search
Will she come home?
Why does the night turn to day?
To
Day
Is led astray
By a tide of ring tones
And fake promises
You will never be where you are
A coma of the senses
Taking you back
To be returned
To the origin
Decreation
I hover over the hills
Of Constantinople
I call out for history to retract
From its misconceptions
A betrayal spreading like blood
Through the centuries
Infuriating the veins of civilisation
We got closer once
Then we lost track
Then we were tracked down
Then we were simply down
I heard your prayer
Beneath shores of stone
Ships of bone
Chants of home
Of men together
And alone
If I could fell through the ages
Would I ever return?
If I could see through the ages
Would I see the world burn?
A thousand times again
A thousand times over
Time is the final makeover
The words of the lost are repeated
Though no one can hear them
No one that's here
Then
Why should we near hymn?
I feel I have misspoken
I apologize
I concede
I retract
I bow to your aptitude
To the necessities of the multitude
I no longer know what to say
But somehow this calms me down
No longer a mission or objective
To be completed in time
A score to settle or conquer
A game in hand
I flee from the surface of existence
I dive though the musty waters
Settle in the silt
I rain in the sand
Wet with peace
I return to me
And forget about all beginnings
Beneath shores of stone
Ships and thrones
Kingdoms of flashing eyes
Wide, dazzling grins
The mistakes are the same
Over coffee and latte,
Or ambrosia and honey
Too much delight can switch you down
The cable of creation
Is yours to keep
There's nothing to be learned
But plenty to forget
I take it you've never met
The stranger in your head
The person that stares back
On the other side of the mirror
Above the neck
Those eyes can see you
Better than mine
And yet I must decline
A guest so sublime
Through the strands of time
Making me yours and mine
I wish I could tell you
The words of the lost
But only the wise have spoken
And their silence
Is the last thing I hear
Perhaps their words have been lost
Or broken
By something stronger
Than bread or spear
Their words have been forgotten

In Between The Gates Of Eden

You'll travel your soul
Roam and roam
Forget the way home
It's a song
You can dance
I'll see you when you get there
Never a goodbye
Unfashionable clothes
The slipstream of childhood
The regrets we made
The songs we wore
As war went on
It's a time capsule
That holds us together
Apart we stand
Each other in awe
I awake myself
I head off to work
My life is complete
A word I write
I song I sink
A bird I free
Flutters in the wind
My chest heaves
My life concedes
I whisper a secret lie
I tell no one my alibi
There's no one to hear
Our secret conquest
The year nears
The year that beckons nears
Two rivers
The Euphrates
The Tigris
Elephants and tigers
Will you come home?
Together we shall stay apart
The long and the lack
An unquestionable remark
I fail my seed
I take thee as a spouse
A wrinkled worm
The word of the lost
Is here forever
I stand beside you
Before the Gates of Eden
I stand beside you
As you enter
The Gates of Eden
I stand
Behind you
By the Gates
Of Eden
